Welcome To Mississippi Valley Montessori School

We have been educating children since 1967. All of our programs have mixed age groups which provides a family-like setting in which your child will grow and mature. Older children act as mentors and guides for younger children – who in turn – are motivated to gain greater understanding and knowledge through their interactions with older children. A life cycle of growth, new possibilities, and experiences awaits your child at Mississippi Valley.

““Mississippi Valley Montessori taught our daughter many things, including reading, writing, math, organization, getting along well with others and many other concepts. She is a better person for having attended this school and we would do it again. Thanks to all the teachers who helped us raise her during her early years.”

~ Eric & Joy Ostrem, Former MVMS Family

At Mississippi Valley Montessori School, we believe in the core philosophy of Maria Montessori and her outstanding research on children’s abilities to learn. Our programs help children become their best selves. We strive to help all children pursue subjects of personal interest, develop a real love of learning, gain confidence in academic skills and independently acquiring knowledge.

Social skills, including peaceful conflict resolution, are also a focus of our beautiful classroom. We help children form a community, see their role in the world around them, and allow them to follow a path toward independence.

Mississippi Valley is a BUSINESS STRUCTURE. Our school is run by a Board of Directors, made up of parent volunteers and community members.

“We have seen strong growth in those as well as many areas including social skills such as kindness to others, finishing your own tasks before starting a new one (including cleaning up) and treating all people with courtesy.”
